PERILS has today released its fourth and final loss estimate for Typhoon No. 14, also known as Typhoon Nanmadol, which predominantly affected the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku in southern Japan from 18 to 20 September 2022.
In its fourth and final loss report, provided in the form of a detailed industry loss footprint, PERILS estimates that the event has cost the Japan general insurance industry a total of JPY 125.9 billion. This number encompasses the losses from the property line of business as sustained by the Japan general insurance industry. Losses from the cooperative insurance sector (Kyosai) are not included.
