PERILS provides initial aggregated flood footprint for floods in Central Europe

PERILS has released a satellite-based aggregation of the «Rapid Flood Snapshots» of the floods which affected Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. 

The aggregated flood footprint represents an initial view of the maximum boundaries of the area flooded during the last three weeks. A final «Maximum Flood Extent» image of a higher resolution, which will factor in additional information including image interpolation procedures and ground validation data, will be released at a later stage. 

The satellite-based flood footprints can be viewed and downloaded free of charge from the PERILS website at www.perils.org/web/products/earth-observation.
